A speech therapist

The purity and correctness of speech is one of the conditions for a child's readiness for learning and communication with society. Due to speech development deficiencies, it may be difficult for the child to integrate into society, delayed personality development, as well as learning disorders both in the native language and in mathematics (difficulties in solving text tasks).

A speech therapist is a language and speech correction specialist who assesses a child's speech and language development and deals with the prevention of language and speech disorders in children.

A speech therapist can help

  • develop better communication skills;

  • supplement the vocabulary;

  • improve language comprehension;

  • prevent sound pronunciation disorders;

  • prevent speech rhythm and tempo disturbances (stuttering);

  • prevent reading and writing disorders;

  • to express yourself grammatically (correct order of words in a sentence, correct use of gender, number, inflections, use of prepositions);

  • develop phonemic perception;

  • strengthen breathing;

  • practice fine motor skills.

When planning correctional work, an individual approach is sought for each child. The child's age, attention span, skills and knowledge to be learned, as well as the child's temperament, pace of learning, peculiarities of mind and thinking, as well as interests are taken into account.

Only in close cooperation with parents, school and other specialists, a speech therapist can help a child reach his potential, improve the quality of life and successfully integrate into society.
